The lure of
Black Diamond

In a world filled with contradictions, black diamonds stand at the head of the list. No longer the byproduct of mining, today's  blacks are sought after as never before for use in some of the world's most beautiful jewelry. We love the rarity of the  stones, though their treated counterparts illicit a similarly wanton beauty. Deep and beautiful with a shimmer all of their own, black diamonds outline white or yellow metals, white or colored diamonds, or colored gems in a way nothing else can match, giving the jewelry that uses them a warm, resonant look.

The jewelry industries insatiable appetite for variety is finally beginning to pay off big time for Black Diamond, a category of colored diamonds held in such low esteem among specialist in these gems that few carry them. Ever since the Basel Fair (Finest and largest jewelry show in the world) in April, where many designers showed collections of Black Diamond Jewelry a smattering of U.S. designers and manufacturers have been willing to cross the color line and take a chance on stones and make a perfect creation.

Finely finished  black diamonds are much rare than are believed. The final finish is all important to the value of black diamonds.

Color

Causes of black color in diamond

1. Black Diamonds only appear to be black.

2. They are permeated with criss-crossing fissures with black deposits (mostly sulfides) on them so that they emerge opaque.

3. Translucent or semitransparent  Black Stones are rare.
